The International Scientific Conference “Cooperatives and Sustainable Development: Economic, Social, and Environmental Dimensions” (CSDESED 2025) is organized by South-West University “Neofit Rilski” (Blagoevgrad), Trakya University (Edirne), and the National Union of Labour-Producers’ Cooperatives in Bulgaria.
The conference is held in recognition of the United Nations’ designation of 2025 as the International Year of Cooperatives, under the theme “Cooperatives Build a Better World.” This initiative seeks to raise global awareness of the vital role that cooperative enterprises play in reducing poverty, creating jobs, and promoting social inclusion. It also underscores the cooperative business model as a sustainable and resilient alternative for driving socio-economic development.
CSDESED 2025 is a multidisciplinary forum designed to bring together researchers, academics, and professionals from across the socio-economic and business spectrum. Its primary objective is to provide a platform for sharing the outcomes of scientific research and development activities within the conference’s thematic areas. The event offers participants valuable opportunities to exchange ideas, share experiences, build academic and professional networks, and foster future collaboration.

Accepted papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings.
Official language for papers and presentations: English.
Conference Format and Programme
The conference will be held on-site in Blagoevgrad on 8–9 October 2025.
- 8 October: Official opening, plenary sessions, lunch, scientific sessions (with coffee breaks), and official dinner.
- 9 October: Full-day social programme including visits to the town of Melnik, the archaeological site Heraclea Sintica, and a local winery with tasting.
